Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of circulating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded any factual proof contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
